The growth in revenue was the result of new restaurants not in the comparable base and an 11.1% increase in comparable restaurant sales. Comparable restaurant sales growth was primarily driven by increased traffic in the quarter as well as the impact of menu price increases implemented between March and August.

In a statement for the record for today’s Senate Finance Committee hearing, “Extenders and Tax Reform: Seeking Long-Term Solutions,” the National Restaurant Association’s David Koenig, Vice President of Tax and Profitability, called for the extension of several tax provisions that are critical for the restaurant industry, the nation’s second-largest private-sector employer.
